80’s Chevrolet CK-10 Silverado Pickup Truck - Automotive Archaeology
I spotted this truck while walking around Piqua, Ohio and just had to grab a few photos of it. I love the rust and dents it adds so much character to the truck. The truck looks like it’s from the 80’s, but I’m not sure of the exact year. – Any clue?
Interestingly I found out that the trim on this truck is called Silverado and eventually Chevrolet called their newer line of trucks Silverados. This is nothing new for Chevrolet as they did the same thing with calling their new cars Malibu’s when that was really a trim option for the Chevelle.
It surly caused some confusion and insults towards the original named car and its owners. Plus, if you would compare a Chevelle to a new Malibu you will get a very one sided in argument at car shows in favor of the classic muscle car. And it’s not hard to see why with the new one being a 4 cylinder, front wheel drive commuter car pumping out a dismal 150 max hp. I will stick with the Chevelle. And much can be argued the same for the newer trucks dubbed Silverados.
